MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH
About This Event
Paracosm brings its dance theatre madness back to the Orpheum Theatre this fall with a phenomenally surreal, wild west movement adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death.
Created by Founder + Artistic Director Alyssa Johnson, MASQUE emerges from the dust- and drought-ridden ghost town of a forgotten dimension where POE meets PARACOSM meets PHX.
A true collision of literary horror, dance, and the mirages of Arizona’s landscape, you’ve only got ONE CHANCE to witness the unraveling.

Paracosm Dance is a multimedia dance theatre company creating temporary realities through fierce movement.
“A motley crew of highly-articulate, gorgeous dancers.” – Kyra Laubacher, Editor at Dance Magazine, Words on Dance
“A dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker, Johnson doesn’t just choreograph bodies – she orchestrates experiences…She’s built a kaleidoscope world where movement is the first and final word, and where story, sound, and spectacle collide in gloriously messy, emotionally raw, and defiantly queer expressions of the human condition.” – Josafath Reynoso, Chief Editor at Skene
