Resilience: Artist Victoria Lindley’s Solo Debut at Five15Arts Gallery Explores Survival, Memory, and Transformation in the Desert May 2-31, 2025 Opening Reception: Friday, May 2, 6pm-9pm Five15Arts @ Chartreuse 1301 NW Grand Ave Phoenix, AZ 85007 Gallery Hours: Fridays 6–9pm, Saturdays & Sundays 11am–2pm Or by appointment: five15arts@gmail.com Phoenix, AZ – In her debut solo exhibition Resilience, artist Victoria Lindley presents a thoughtful body of work that reflects both personal and creative transformation. Opening at Five15Arts Gallery, the show explores themes of endurance, change, and the evolving nature of memory—set against the stark, symbolic backdrop of the Sonoran Desert. The exhibition comes on the heels of a major life shift: after 19 years as the owner of the beloved local retail space Muse, Lindley made the decision to sell the business and devote herself fully to painting. “Stepping away from something I built over nearly two decades wasn’t easy,” she says. “But it created space for this next chapter—one rooted in creative risk, introspection, and growth.” That sense of transition is at the heart of Resilience. The work is deeply inspired by the desert landscape, where towering saguaro cacti stand as enduring symbols of survival. Weathered and scarred, they carry their histories visibly, yet they continue to grow—a reflection, the artist says, of how we move through time, perception, and change. “I’ve been thinking a lot about how memory shifts,” she explains. “The stories we tell ourselves and inherit aren’t fixed—they evolve, blur, and sometimes transform entirely”. Several of the pieces feature portraits and themes of ancestry. “Like the desert, our personal histories are layered and evolving”. Through her evocative paintings, Lindley redefines resilience—not simply as survival, but as a process of transformation, shaped by both the natural world and the narratives we carry forward. Resilience will be on view at Five15Arts Gallery from May 2 through June 1, with an opening reception on Friday May 2, 6-9 pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
