The Thalweg

The Thalweg exists to support creatives in rural, agricultural, outdoor, and wilderness-based communities. It is a space where the voices of folks who work outside—guides, fisherman, hunters, sailors, rangers, firefighters, educators, land stewards, farmers, ecologists, environmental scientists, and others—come together to explore the strange and beautiful ways they metabolize the wild landscapes where they live and work. Each issue features a collection of written and visual work from 8 to 15 contributors. Each issue is available in a limited print run. Once print copies are sold through, the issue can be browsed in our archive. We are committed to paying artists and writers for their work. We offer issues of The Thalweg on a sliding scale, donation basis. Pay what you can, anything helps us support our contributions. Above all else, our mission is to offer creative opportunities, community, and exposure to creative writers and visual artists who live and work in rural or wild landscapes.
